Sexual Assault in the French Film Industry

Filmmaker Christophe Ruggia was found guilty of sexual assault on French actor Adèle Haenel when she was between 12 and 15 in the early 2000s. Haenel accused Ruggia of inappropriate touching during the filming of 'Les Diables.' Ruggia was sentenced to two years under house arrest and a two-year suspended sentence. Haenel has been vocal about the issue of sexual abuse in French filmmaking.
