Brooklyn subway murder case

Sebastian Zapeta, a 33-year-old Guatemalan migrant, made his first court appearance to face murder charges after allegedly setting a homeless woman on fire in a Brooklyn subway. He used his shirt to fan the flames and was caught on surveillance video. He had been previously arrested by Customs and Border Patrol in 2018 and returned to Guatemala but made his way back to the U.S.

Misleading News Report on Brooklyn Subway Incident

The New York Daily News falsely reported that a woman caught fire on a Brooklyn subway car, when in reality she was intentionally set on fire and died. The misleading headline was likely politically motivated.
