Chinese Nationals Charged in Global Cybercrime Campaigns
Twelve Chinese nationals, including hackers and law enforcement officers, have been charged for global cybercrime campaigns targeting dissidents, news organizations, U.S. agencies, and universities. The cases detail a hacking-for-hire ecosystem in China funded by the government. The indictments reveal activities targeting Chinese dissidents, religious organizations, and media outlets in the U.S. The hackers charged the Chinese government between $10,000 and $75,000 for each email inbox successfully hacked.
