Apprehension of Afghan Migrant on U.S. Terror Watchlist

An Afghan migrant on the U.S. terror watchlist, Mohammed Karwan, was apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border and released twice onto American soil before being officially added to the FBI terror watchlist in February 2024. Despite being a member of Hezb-e-Islami responsible for attacks in Afghanistan, he was released on bond after a court appearance with limited information disclosed to the federal immigration judge.
