Iraq War veteran protests job loss by flying American flag upside down

An Iraq war veteran who lost her job during Trump cuts to the federal workforce began flying the American flag upside down as a sign of distress. She considered suicide but sought treatment and hung the flag as a protest. The Department of Veterans Affairs laid off about 1,400 probationary employees, including the veteran. The VA is redirecting funds to Veteran-facing services without cutting health care or benefits.
