Islamic Extremist Motive in Mannheim Knife Attack
German authorities have uncovered evidence of an Islamic extremist motive in a knife attack in Mannheim, where a police officer was fatally injured. The attack was carried out by a 25-year-old man from Afghanistan who had his asylum application rejected. The assailant targeted members of a group opposing political Islam, injuring five members and killing a police officer. Calls have been made to enable deportations to Afghanistan and Syria.
