Former Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez Charged with Racketeering and Conspiracy
Former Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez charged with racketeering and conspiracy for involvement in an illegal gambling operation, pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars and using campaign contributions to sustain it. Gov. Ron DeSantis suspended Lopez and appointed an interim sheriff. Lopez pleaded not guilty and is in custody on a $1 million bond. The operation generated over $21.6 million. Four others also face charges.
