South Carolina Democratic Party figure defeated in state senator primary

Dick Harpootlian, a longtime South Carolina Democratic Party figure and former lawyer for convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, was defeated in the primary for state senator. Harpootlian conceded to his opponent Russell Ott after a narrow race.
