Mandatory GPS Tracking Chips for Mount Everest Climbers
The government of Nepal has made it mandatory for all climbers of Mount Everest to carry a GPS tracking chip to assist with rescue efforts. This decision comes after a record number of climbers and accidents in 2023, making it the deadliest year in Everest's history. The tracking chips will be rented for a minimal fee and must be sewn into climbers' clothing for the duration of the climb.
