FDA Recall of Cucumbers due to Salmonella Outbreak

The FDA is recalling cucumbers grown by Bedner Growers and distributed by Fresh Start Produce Sales due to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than two dozen people in multiple states. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, stomach cramps, and vomiting. Consumers are advised to throw away cucumbers if unsure of the source and follow food safety tips to prevent food poisoning.

Cucumber Salmonella Outbreak

Over 150 people have fallen ill due to cucumbers possibly contaminated with salmonella. The CDC has linked 162 reported illnesses across 25 states and Washington, D.C. to the outbreak. Fresh Start Produce Sales, Inc. issued a recall for cucumbers distributed between May 17 and May 21 in 14 states.
