Houston Thunderstorms Cause Widespread Damage and Four Deaths

Houston is reeling after thunderstorms with hurricane-force winds knocked out electricity to nearly 1 million homes and businesses, causing widespread damage and resulting in four deaths. The storm brought extreme winds of up to 100 miles per hour, causing considerable damage throughout the region, with fallen trees, downed power lines, and structural damage to buildings. Houston has been hit by extreme weather twice in the last two weeks, with recent severe flooding as well.

Flooding in Texas

Massive amounts of rain in Texas have caused flooding, leading to evacuations. The rain is expected to continue with up to 3 inches more expected. The flooding has impacted Texas and parts of Louisiana for weeks, resulting in severe thunderstorms and tornadoes. Houston officials have performed over 100 water rescues and 179 people, along with 122 pets, were rescued in Liberty County. No deaths or injuries have been reported.
