Transgender Surgery and Suicide Rates

A study found that men in California who underwent transgender surgery to remove their genitals have a higher rate of suicide attempts post-surgery, particularly after vaginoplasty. Rates of psychiatric emergencies are high both before and after gender-affirming surgery.
